The Centre:

  • certifies energy efficiency of buildings and activities for conducting inspections of building engineering systems;
  • assesses energy efficiency of buildings and structures;
  • conducts energy marking of construction thermal insulation materials and products, translucent enclosing structures; 
  • researches and tests building structures using thermal engineering indicators and building materials by thermophysical characteristics;
  • researches and tests construction products (materials, products) using thermal, acoustic, and lighting indicators, including certification and qualification tests;
  • designs, installs and operates all types of roofs for industrial, civil, residential and agricultural purposes;
  • develops and revises regulatory and technical documentation, which includes state, regional, departmental and industry standards. Incorporates the regulatory framework of production and supply enterprises to the requirements of construction practice in Ukraine;
  • designs roofs of buildings and structures during the construction of new ones and during the reconstruction of existing ones;
  • makes calculations of the structural composition of combined and attic roofs: steam and thermal insulation; anti-condensate and dehumidification ventilation; drainage and drainage systems from the coating; fasteners against wind loads;
  • provides expert assessments of the roof design solutions made at the designing stage;
  • supports roofing works by developing work execution projects and technological regulations; provides technical supervision; accepts works completed;
  • performs laboratory and full-scale tests of insulation of enclosing structures of buildings using airborne and shock noise;
  • performs laboratory and full-scale measurements of acoustic characteristics of noise sources and noise protection equipment, measurement of sound-absorbing characteristics of materials and structures;
  • measures and analyses the noise regime in premises and adjacent areas as well as develops recommendations for noise protection;
  • tests the reaction of materials to fire.

  • develops albums and catalogs of technical solutions for heat and sound insulation of enclosing structures based on efficient insulation materials and products;
  • develops manuals and process ñharts;
  • develops organization standards of Ukraine.

The department is accredited for compliance with the requirements of DSTU ISO/IEC 17025:2006 (Accreditation Certificate No. 2T167 dated 24 September 2018) in the field of testing construction products for thermal and acoustic indicators


LABORATORY OF CONSTRUCTION HEAT ENGINEERING AND ACOUSTICS

CONDUCTS TESTS OF BUILDING STRUCTURES AND PRODUCTS FOR THEIR COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Heat transfer resistance, air permeability, water permeability, wind load resistance, static load resistance to exposure to the sash opening angle limiter, total light transmittance, dew point, durability (resistance to climatic influences and aggressive media influences), heat resistance, a color change after ultraviolet radiation, thermal conductivity, density, sorption humidity, vapor permeability coefficient, the effective service life of insulation materials, changing linear dimensions under alternating temperature conditions, frost resistance, water absorption, air and shock insulation tests measurement of sound-absorbing characteristics of materials and structures, etc.
CONSTRUCTION HEAT ENGINEERING
  • Develops technical solutions aimed at improving the energy characteristics of structures and buildings
  • Conducts inspections of the microclimate of facilities for various purposes and develops recommendations for their energy-economic operation.
  • Provides expertise in building designs, evaluates thermal protection properties of enclosing structures and their water and air permeability, as well as  develops recommendations for improving technical solutions.
  • Performs inspection and energy audit of construction sites, and provides energy data sheets of buildings.
  • Performs calculations and estimates of heat engineering indicators of enclosing structures and energy performance of buildings.
  • Determins design values of thermophysical characteristics of building materials and products.
  • Evaluates the thermal and humidity conditions of residential, public, and industrial buildings.
  • Forecasts the durability of building materials and structures, taking into account the effects of the environment.
  • Inspects all types of roofs for industrial, civil, residential and agricultural purposes.
  • Employs methods for monitoring the thermophysical characteristics of building materials, products and structures in the course of their manufacture and operation of buildings.
  • Certifies building materials, products, and structures based on their thermal engineering indicators.
  • Optimizes structural solutions for the thermal insulation envelope of buildings based on modeling the temperature conditions of structural insulation systems.
  • Develops and provides expertise in technical specifications for construction products.
  • Provides expert opinions and technical certificates on the suitability for use of construction products for which there are no national regulatory documents of the level of technical specifications.
BUILDING ACOUSTICS
  • Performs acoustic design of noise protection and provides the "Noise Protection" section for the design documentation of facilities for various purposes, which includes:
  • Provides acoustic calculation and evaluation of the impact of noise sources of the facility under design, both on its rooms and areas with normalized noise levels, and on the adjacent area and objects located on it with normalized noise levels;
  • Provides acoustic calculation (or full-scale measurements) and assessment of the impact of external (existing) noise sources on the facility under design;
  • Determines the required noise reduction for each of the internal and external noise sources;
  • Develops a complex of noise protection measures using construction and acoustic means that reduce the noise of sources to ensure a standard acoustic regime on the facility under design and the adjacent area and objects located in this area.
  • Develops structural solutions for internal and external enclosing structures of residential and public buildings with pre-defined sound insulation against airborne and impact noise.
  • Develops structural solutions to increase the sound insulation of enclosing structures in existing buildings to the required values.
  • Conducts an acoustic audit of construction sites with noise sources and residential areas and develops a set of noise protection measures to ensure the standard acoustic regime.
  • Performs acoustic design of protection of residential areas from traffic noise and noise of individual sources using noise protection screens with the construction of expected sound fields (noise maps) in the noise-protected area.
  • Based on the results of acoustic calculations, the laboratory develops recommendations for choosing the optimal parameters of noise protection screens.
  • Performs projects to optimize the acoustic characteristics of theater and cinema halls, concert halls, meeting rooms, conference halls, churches, etc.
  • Conducts an expert examination of designs of buildings and areas, evaluates their acoustic characteristics, technical solutions for noise protection, and develops recommendations for their improvement.
  • Performs design of noise protection in rooms with noise sources by means of sound insulation, sound absorption, shielding, vibration damping, vibration isolation.
