Background and objectives of the seminar

Presently the task on more energy efficient buildings is a transition in architectural engineering practice from structures heat transfer resistance norms to norms regulating the energy performance of buildings, as specified in EC Directive No.31/2010.

In Ukraine the methods to calculate the energy efficiency of buildings were developed by previous EBRD technical assistance project, which was developed by WarliParsons/ENSI/MDI in close collaboration with the Institute of Building Constructions (SE NIISK under leadership of Gennady Farenyuk).

Presently the Institute of Building Constructions prepares a review of existing normative document “Heat insulation of buildings” DBN B.2.6-31: 2006, which includes several requirements related to energy efficiency. In 2015 it is planned to develop a new version, which is going to include minimum requirements for the energy efficiency of buildings to improve energy efficiency of new construction objects. There are several ways and methods for development of EU Directive No.31/2010 on minimum energy efficiency requirements.

The seminar was organized to inform about the preliminary developments to determine the minimum buildings energy efficiency requirements, review of EU practice and discussion of appropriate methodology.

The target groups of the seminar are representatives of construction industry, real estate industry , architects, engineers, energy auditors and representatives of universities.
