Results of research works executed by NIISK are developments in:
* technical and operational requirements concerning buildings, building structures, products and materials;
* methods of computation and designing of building structures and buildings;
* test methods for buildings , structures of their elements and building materials;
* The scientific substantiation of directions of scientific and technical progress in construction and policy of State committee of construction, architecture and residential policy of Ukraine in field construction.
The institute is certified for the following works:
*Making conclusions concerning possibilities of the participants of investment activity to execute special kinds of works concerning development of design solutions, methods for both programs of computations of the buildings support and protective structures, buildings and structures, methods their computation and testing;
* issuing certificates on meeting construction production the requirements of the normative documents on safety and protection of environment;
* execution expert conclusions on construction works, which concern directions of researches, on which the institute is recognized as a leading organization.

In the structure of NIISK the body of certification of building structures "Tsentroseprobud", accredited by Gosstandart of Ukraine within the system of certification of UkrSEPRO in field of accreditation:
* industrial, civil, agricultural buildings and structures;
* wooden building structures;
* Steel structures;
* structures of details of walls and partitions;
* slabs, boards and floors of overlapping and roofing;
* foundations, structures and details of bases, underground structures;
* structures and architectural - sstructural detailses of buildings and structures.

The accredited subdivisions of the institute:
* Department of researches and tests of building structures; * department of building physics and energy saving; * laboratory of researches structures; * laboratory of dynamic tests of building structures; * laboratory of corrosion and protection of building structures.
