NIISK solves the problems mainly concerning problems of rational use of energy for heating of rooms of buildings, and also appropriate development hermetic shells in buildings concerning heat exchange and humidity transformation.

For it such research problems are solved:
*test and evaluation of suitability of building materials and hermetic shells concerning a thermal insulation, and also them hermetic of properties concerning penetration of rain water and infiltration of air;
* research works concerning main positions of computations of buildings with low energy consumption, including computer simulation of optimum variant of design solution, concerning the costs of energy during heating of rooms.
* buildings while in operation;
* monitoring of energy, which is used in buildings, while in operation, with the purpose of development of optimum solutions, concerning expediency and volumes of thermal renovation.
